Viera Artimova was born in Svidnik, Slovakia with picturesque landscapes of rolling mountains, castles perched on hilltops and acres of farmland. Her desire to paint came at an early age, but would not come to fruition until a lot later in her life. Access to art schools and development was not prevalently available. Her initial studies included agricultural engineering and teaching. In 1991 she immigrated to the United States and continued to focus on taking care of her family. However her desire for painting was always present in her mind.
In 2017, her passion became a reality when she enrolled in the Montclair Art Museum. She has been supervised by Gary Godbee’s and developed on her skills tremendously. She paints from images she has acquired from places all over the world including her beloved homeland Slovakia. The intricate detail, colors and beautiful landscapes in her art pieces are evident. Her love for the muse comes through in each individual piece.
